Did you know that nationally, cleaning products don’t have to disclose what chemicals are used in their products? That means that stuff you’re spraying, breathing, getting on your skin, and around your children might have a lot more harmful ingredients in it than you know! Some chemicals found in ordinary products have been linked to cancer, birth defects, asthma, and allergies- yet the companies don’t have to tell you what toxins you’re using around your family! Thankfully, 7th Generation believes consumers have the RIGHT to know what they’re using and have created incredible products with the ingredients listed and started a revolution for other companies to #comeclean! We recently hosted a 7th Generation Healthy Baby Home Party with the impending arrival of baby #4 and got to sample some amazing, free, goodies from 7th Generation and their partner brands! I think the highlight of the event, for me, was the “healthy home trivia game” (complete with awesome prizes!!). For instance, did you know that nursing pillows, car seats, changing table pads and nap mats all contain toxic flame retardant chemicals?? I’m starting to see the real value in purchasing organic products- and not just in the grocery aisle! With all these hidden chemicals and toxins lurking in everything from fabrics, to cleaners, and personal care items, being “green” can feel completely overwhelming and like a losing battle.... But through 7th Generation, we were introduced to some easy ways to live healthier! When it comes to cleaners, we normally buy 7th Generation’s or make our own, and after my newborn daughter ended up with a chemical burn from Huggies “natural” baby wipes, we switched to 7th Generation baby wipes for my sensitive skin kids. So, while I’m working on healthy changes for my kids and house, this tired mama hasn’t upgraded many of her own personal products!!
Alas, I was thrilled to hear about and sample Schmidt’s natural deodorant and learn that 7th Generation has launched feminine care products! As a mom, it’s nice to know some companies are doing their best to keep you healthy while you take care of a million and one other things! Thanks 7th Generation!!
