Naked Collagen Review

12/1/2018

Funny story: my two-year-old has been waking me up 3x a night and I'm still 9 months pregnant.

Ok, that wasn't really funny, but when you hit a certain point, you just have to laugh…

Like most moms, the first thing I do in the morning is to start brewing my coffee. After it's poured, and that wonderful fragrance fills my kitchen, I add a splash of milk and a scoop of Naked Collagen Powder.

Why? And what is collagen? Well, those are choices I made years ago when I was far more rested!

Collagen is an important building block for the body’s connective tissues, helping them maintain strength and elasticity (1).  The anti-aging beauty market picked up on the concept years ago, creating a plethora of collagen creams and products to help minimize wrinkles, but applying collagen topically only treats the symptoms instead of helping our bodies where it’s needed the most.

When we eat collagen-rich foods or supplement collagen in our diets, we help replenish our bodies with the type of protein found most abundantly and a crucial component for healthy skin, ligaments, muscles, and my personal favorite: gut health. Unfortunately, most diets are severely lacking in this essential nutrient. Drinking bone broth is a common way to boost collagen intake, and as much as I Iove soup and drinking plain broth, you have to consume A LOT of it to get the recommended dose and I can only cook so many bones...

My journey with collagen began nearly two years ago when I got really sick for an extended period of time. I ended up taking 5 months of antibiotics which helped fight various infections, but the medication wreaked havoc on my body. Every joint hurt, I was so tired, and just didn't know how to get through a day.

On a whim, I ordered a popular collagen and figured it wouldn't hurt. After putting the first scoop in my green drink, I was amazed at the energy boost, and gradually my joint pain vanished and I began to get my life back [and even noticed old stretch marks improving]. There were two downsides to that product: taste and clumping. Everything I added it to tasted a little like chicken, with clumps… but I overlooked it for the results!

Recently, I was asked to check out Naked Collagen. Unlike what I've used in the past, this collagen is from grass-fed cows who are cared for humanely in England. And it doesn't clump or have a taste! THAT'S AMAZING!

I’ve found it really easy to add a scoop of Naked Collagen into my coffee in the morning and in my afternoon green drinks [note to self: when you blend collagen, it expands a bit, so leave room!].  One scoop of Naked Collagen adds 9 grams of protein to anything it’s mixed in- and you can't taste a thing!

That’s definitely an easy choice you can feel good about inside and out!
